BVExcel

Blackstone Valley Excellence in Course Enhanced Learning

Blackstone Valley Superintendent’s Consortium

The purpose of BVExcel is to develop a collaborative model for the Blackstone Valley School Districts to provide non-traditional course offering that will expose students to career options, building industry skills, and provide workforce opportunities that would be difficult to offer in isolation.  BVExcel works to combine resources in order to offer students unique courses which would be impossible for each district to offer individually.  Each of these courses is credit bearing towards high school graduation, will be reflected on each students’ transcript, and each student will receive a grade.

BVExcel has been funded through a generous grant from American Student Assistance (ASA).  www.asa.org

BVExcel Policies

Students will receive credit on their school transcripts for each BVExcel course per the agreement signed by the superintendents in the Blackstone Valley Consortium.  Students should read the course descriptions carefully and contact their School Counselors to discuss these options prior to enrollment.  Students will then sign up using the online form on the 24-25 Registration. There is a minimum number of students required and on occasion some courses may not run as scheduled.  Students may sign up for more than one class if there is room.  Signing up does not guarantee registration as spots are available to each school district in the Blackstone Valley first, then on a first-come, first serve basis, and subject to School Counselor/Principal approval.  Students will be notified via email of their enrollment status after the registration period.

Please email Laura Ingemi, BVExcel Coordinator, if you have at questions about registration at lingemi@bvexcel.org.

Classroom Expectations:

Behavior should always reflect favorably on the sending district.  BVExcel courses are an extension on the school day and as such your school Handbook rules and regulations are applicable while enrolled in a BVExcel course.

Attendance:

Only 2 absences will be allowed during the semester in order to obtain class credit.  If you withdraw from a class after 4 class meetings, then you will receive a "Withdrawal" on your transcript (this does not affect GPA).

Employability Workshop:

A Saturday workshop on Employability Skills will be scheduled for each semester.  Topics and activities include networking, LinkedIn, and mock interviews.  Attendance is required.  Refer to the BVExcel school calendar for the dates.
